Independence Day, 2009
Our tea party was an all day affair in Young Park, one of the larger grassy places in our desert city. Many families spent the day enjoying a family picnic, and doing all the wonderful things families do in America's parks, on July 4.
Refreshments were available, of course, and there were opportunities to sign various petitions related to upcoming Congressional actions, if anyone was so inclined.

I wish the people who are trashing the tea parties would attend one. You would see your neighbors, all ages, all population segments and ethnic groups represented.
We did not have a parade permit, nor did we want to interfere with our friends and neighbors as they went about their holiday business. So we marched the sidewalks, stopped at all intersections, and became pretty spread out.

It was a great way to celebrate this holiday, surrounded by people who share your love of America and want to preserve it as the land of the free and the home of the brave.
