What's in a name?

You gotta hand it to those clever liberal Democrats. If something grows to have a bad name - change its name!

Liberals are now Progressives.

Earmark... as a budget amount specifically targeted to one project, has truly become a bad name. But, frequently legislative earmarks were tacked on to a piece of legislation at the last moment, after the legislation had been reviewed and agreed to. So, Obama said THAT is the definition of an earmark.... something sneaked in when no one was looking.

To paraphrase Shakespeare, That which we call an Earmark, by any other name, still stinks!

John McCain swore to veto any legislation that carried an earmark.
The Dems made no such promise and now we know why. In the stimulus bill, they packed in dough for every specific project everyone could think of. Can't you just hear Speaker Pelosi... "C'mon, people... surely you can think of something else you would like to take home to your district!" But, they were not tacked on at the last minute, so they were not earmarks!

But, rest assured there likely will be no earmarks during the Obama presidency... there isn't anything left to want.
