  1. Happy B'day, Mackenzie from your first cuz once removed, Pam!

Regarding the Beatles and their "historic/hysteric" invasion: to me that was the "second" "day the music died," in addition to February 3, 1959 when, according to Don Mclean, with the death of Buddy Holly, etal, that was the "day the music died."

I've always been "an odd duck" about this "Beatles" thing, but I still feel that when they hit the colonies, classic R'nR "died" and it was never the same again. Yeah, sure, some survived the "casualty" and yeah, sure, I do like some of the Brit singers and their music, but hey, they had their own stuff going already across the pond, and I still wanted my doo wop, Connie, Rydell, Frankie, Sedaka, Dion, and the other "all-American" home-grown immigrant R'nR talent.

So, this week, I've sadly and quietly, commemorated the 50th anniversary of the "day the music died."

And, with last month's "historic/hysteric" inauguration, once again, I'm witnessing another "invasion" from an outsider (BO) and an impending "day that America died."

Bye, bye, Miss American Pie . . .

  2. Welcome to a new donator to the blog. It ia a pleasure to read a similar point of view. I'll take all the conservatives I can get.
Pam, there was a Dick Tracy character named B O Plenty. I like your reference to him as just that instead of the BHO I've always called him. Your firsdt cousin once removed by marriage. JMC

  3. I have to express my agreement with Pam on the Beatle invasion. I can't exactly put my finger on a reason, but I was never a Beatles fan. Yes, I loved "Something". And "Hey, Jude". But not the bubble gum stuff like "I Wanna Hold Your Hand." When they released "Yesterday", I thought, "Hey... you were born only yesterday." Sorry.
Now, the birth of Mackenzie! That was a real event!
