I've been having a lot of really strange computer glitches lately...was curious if it's just me, or if others are seeing the same kinds of things.
Sometimes I leave a browser open, sitting on a favorite page, like Drudge Report, while I'm working on other files. Several times lately I've returned to the browser to find it sitting on an entirely different page. This has happened to me on three different computers, and the new pages have varied greatly, from a search page (Red Rover or something?) to Asian porn! Eek! If that happened at work I could lose my job!
Today I opened a browser and the whole computer went nuts...opened 19 browser windows, all pointed to this blog. While I think the blog is a pretty nice place to visit, I certainly don't need to see it 19 times!
I've also been getting a lot of DOS popup windows with error messages about ntvdm.exe and/or wuauclt.exe encountering illegal instructions and the like, and giving me the option to close or ignore. If I close, it comes back every few seconds...if I ignore, it leaves me alone for a while. ntvdm.exe is also consuming massive amounts of CPU time...maxing it out frequently. I've Googled these errors, and found that others have experienced the same thing, but have yet to find a satisfactory solution.
I have all the latest anti-virus and firewall programs running...I've done scans repeatedly to make sure I don't have a virus...nothing turns up. It's becoming a huge annoyance. So...is it just me?
Update: Just went back to my Drudge Report page and found it had turned into a Chinese Sex Museum. Geez.
