Went to one of THREE tea parties in Kansas City today, at Johnson County Community College. Weather and turnout were both excellent. I'm lousy at guessing, but there had to be a couple thousand people there. One of our local talk radio gals was broadcasting live...she had to give people alternate directions to get there because we had traffic so backed up with the crowds coming to the party and the enthusiastic passers-by, slowing down to honk, wave and take pictures. It was TONS of fun...hope you went to one, too! Here's a few pictures.
Mackenzie had a great time. Surprised her, I think.
This is Staff Sergeant Daniel Something...I never got his last name. Hard to tell in the pix, but he lost his left leg three years ago in Iraq. The radio station was giving away prizes for the best sign (mine was a finalist!)...Daniel's only sign was the t-shirt he was wearing, but the crowd voted to give him the prize of his choice for it. His daughter had a sign. Came up with it all by herself. It read "My Dad's a hero, not a terrorist." I cried. So did Daniel.
One of dozens of adorable little kids with adorable little signs. They were beautiful.
Just one shot of the crowd. There was no possible way to begin to get even a third of the crowd in one picture...it was wonderful. Best time I've had in a long while...can't wait for the next one!
