This Date In History: An Invitation

While I certainly don't want to ask anything of him that he doesn't want to do, I sincerely hope that my father will share his wisdom on this particular piece of history in a subsequent post. It is a story we must never forget.

February 16, 1945: American troops recaptured the Bataan Peninsula in the Phillipines almost three years after the infamous Bataan Death March.

No mama, no papa, no Uncle Sam,

No aunts, no uncles, no cousins, no nieces,

No pills, no planes, no artillery pieces,

    And nobody gives a damn!"

  2. Upon reflection I'd like to say I realize that poem has nothing to do with your post but I really liked it.
