Tough Talkin' Biden

Speaking to international leaders and security experts in Munich Saturday, Vice President Joe Biden ratcheted up the Obama administration rhetoric toward Iran.

He re-emphasized the desire for talks, but promised strong action if Iran fails to abandon its nuclear ambitions: we will pressure and isolate them! Ah, the inhumanity!

If the foolish Iranians fail to heed this stern warning, Biden held out the possibility of military action! At last!

Oh, wait. Apparently that military action would be in the form of missile defense systems.

But only if the technology is proven and cost-effective.

He called this a Golden Opportunity for the United States...to give up the old carrot and stick approach. Apparently the new strategy will consist largely of carrots, one of which was tossed to the Kremlin, in a promise to heal relations between them and the United States - regardless of Moscow's escalating aggression in its sphere of influence. So our path is clear: as long as Russia plays nice with us regarding al Qaeda and the Taliban, we'll look the other way when they annex Georgia and exert their influence over Kyrgyzstan. Glad we got that cleared up!

What's more, as we fight al Qaeda and the Taliban, he promises that we won't hurt them...wouldn't want to offend anyone with poor treatment of those who have been trying to kill us!

All we ask in return is that, when we close Gitmo, our friends assume responsibility for some of those we turn loose - I'm sure they're excited about that prospect!

It's going to be a long four years, folks. I'm stocking up on popcorn...and other explosive projectile objects....
