Kansas is finding out...the hard way. Breaking news reports that the state has suspended all income tax refunds and may not be able to make payroll. State GOP leaders say legislation has passed to correct the budget deficit, but Governor Sebelius has not yet signed it - she was probably too busy being vetted to be Obama's ill-fated HHS Secretary. Details are a bit sketchy, and I am more than a bit catty on this one...read the real story here.
For the record, I owe Kansas a pretty sizable chunk of cash this year. Haven't paid it yet, so I guess I'm at least partly to blame. Good.
